Je m’appelle Patrick et j’habite Bruxelles, en Belgique. J’ai commencé ma collection du livre « Le Petit Prince » en langues étrangères en 2009. Depuis, elle n’a cessé de grandir.
Pourquoi collectionner « Le Petit Prince » en langues étrangères ?
Il y a évidemment tout d’abord le texte en lui-même ; un texte à la fois magnifique, poétique et profond.
Et puis, il y a l’aspect linguistique. Je suis un amoureux des langues (j’en ai appris 11 + celle que j’ai créée) ; alors, pour moi, chaque nouvelle traduction est une découverte, un émerveillement. Quand je reçois un nouveau « Petit Prince » dans une langue que je ne connais pas, j’aime prendre le temps de l’analyser, de trouver des similitudes avec d’autres langues (à ce titre, les « dialectes » sont particulièrement intéressants), d’essayer de savoir comment elle se prononce, etc. C’est évidemment plus facile avec les langues qui s’écrivent en caractères latines. Pour les autres, j’essaie de déchiffrer les mots (s’ils sont écrits en caractères cyrilliques) ou bien je laisse simplement mon esprit s’imprégner de ces caractères si exotiques.
Je profite de cette présentation pour remercier toutes celles et ceux qui m’ont aidé à faire croître ma collection que ce soit par des ventes, des échanges de livres mais aussi des échanges d’informations bien utiles lorsque Google a ses limites… À vous tous, merci !
My name is Patrick and I live in Brussels, Belgium. I started my collection of « The Little Prince » in foreign languages back in 2009. It hasn't stopped growing ever since.
Why do I collect « The Little Prince » in foreign languages ?
First of all, there is of course the text itself, magnificent, poetical and profound at the same time.
Second of all, there is the linguistic aspect. I am a true lover of foreign languages (I have studied 11 of them + the one that I created myself) ; so, for me, each new translation is a discovery, a wonder. When I receive a new « The Little Prince » in a language that I do not know, I like to take some time to analyse it, to find similarities with other languages (as such, « dialects » are particularly interesting), to figure out how it can be pronounced, and so on. It is of course easier with the languages that are written in Latin characters. For the others, I try to decipher the words (if written in Cyrillic characters) or I just leave my mind becoming imbued with these exotic characters.
I take this presentation as an opportunity to thank all those who helped me grow my collection, whether by selling or exchanging a book or simply by exchanging precious information when googling is not enough. Thanks to all of you !

¿Por qué coleccionar « El Principito » en lenguas extranjeras ?
Por supuesto, en primer lugar, está el texto en sí mismo; un texto a la vez magnífico, poético y profundo.
Luego está el aspecto lingüístico. Soy un enamorado de las lenguas (aprendí 11 lenguas + la que creé). Entonces, para mí, cada nueva traducción es un descubrimiento, una maravilla. Cuando recibo un nuevo « El Principito » en un idioma que no conozco, me gusta tomarme tiempo para analizarlo, para encontrar similitudes con otros idiomas (como tal, los "dialectos" son particularmente interesantes ), para intentar saber cómo se pronuncia, etc. Está claro que esto es más fácil con idiomas escritos en caracteres latinos. Para los otros, intento descifrar las palabras (si están escritas en caracteres cirílicos) o dejo simplemente a mi mente impregnarse de estos caracteres tan exóticos.
